My Bio

Life can be extremely challenging for many of us, leaving us feeling lost, hopeless, helpless and not knowing how to deal with life’s situations. This is definitely something that I have become all too familiar with in the past. I became a widowed single mother at the age of 34, while pregnant with my only child. I have been a care-giver for disabled and elderly family members for much of my life, all while furthering my education and juggling a career and family. My life experiences are what led me to working in the field of Psychology. I hold a Specialist in Educational Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and Counselor Education. I went on to obtain my license as a Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider.

Furthermore, I have been working in the Mental Health field since 1997 and have been with Personal Growth Counseling since 2003. My practice is based on an integrative, strength-based, psychodynamic and educational approach, working to alleviate anxiety, depression, (PTSD) Post-Traumatic Disorder, Dissociative Disorders, disorders of childhood and adolescence, in addition to personal, family, and relationship issues. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families in all type of transitions and/ or dealing with various mental health issues. My practice also consists of court evaluations for custody hearings, abuse and working with children in the foster care system. I am an approved paneled provider for many private insurance plans and (EAP) Employee Assistance Programs, including those provided by many of our local employers, state and federal government agencies. Techniques used in treatment are listed below.

We only have one shot at this life.  We as individuals are the only ones with the power to decide if we are simply going to settle for life as it is, or empower ourselves by regaining our emotional fortitude. Deciding to do what is necessary to become the person we want to be and live our best life.
