Personal Statement:

We all have our own set of circumstances in this life that are uniquely ours to maneuver. I am a firm believer that it is our battle scars from life’s challenges and disappointments that enable us to help others who are experiencing the same. Being from a divorced family as well as being a troubled teen myself, I chose to go into the field of Psychology in my early 20’s. After marriage and 3 children my marriage failed, and I found myself a single mother, struggling with everything that entails. I earned my Masters degree while caring for them, and working. I am gifted at motivating people, especially women and teens. My personal experiences give me a unique perspective and ability to relate to others.I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tennessee Tech University as well as a Masters degree in Social Work from The University of Tennessee. I am also licensed as a masters level social worker with the state of TN. I have eight years experience in the mental health field in one capacity or another. I joined Personal Growth and Learning in 2013. I have experience working with teens on addiction, sexuality, defiant behavior, bullying, working through divorce, self harming, codependency, family conflict, relationship issues, trauma and PTSD. I work with women who are victims of domestic violence and adults for pre-marital, marital, and divorce counseling. I have experience with older adults suffering from dementia and their families. I believe that the family unit should be incorporated into all types of treatment interventions.
